One Day is ONE Day.
I’ve been a little down on myself this week. I look and feel bloated. I’ve had a few too many handfuls of empty carb snacks like cereal, tortilla chips, and vanilla wafers here and there, and a bit more chocolate than I should. 😒
But I’ve also eaten yogurt for breakfasts, salads for lunches, and decently healthy dinners all week. I’ve gotten in all my workouts so far this week and weigh the same as I did last week.
So why am I so blah about my efforts? Why is being discouraged and ashamed so much easier than being happy and proud?
Rather than focus on the “bad,” throw in the towel, and hit The Golden Corral, I’m going to recognize the “good,” and show myself some grace. It’s really about choice. I can choose to dwell on the negative or I can choose to celebrate the positives.
Don’t let one measly day dictate all the rest. One day is just a teeny drop in the bucket of life. In the grand scheme of things, 1 day (or 2 or even 7!) will not make or break your journey. So don’t let it break your spirit.
Taking a break from your workouts, indulging on vacation, or taking a mental health day is OKAY! And necessary. It’s not a diet. It’s not temporary. It’s a lifestyle. And a life without pizza, wine, and rest is definitely not my style!
Miss a workout today? Eat your weight in chips and salsa at dinner? Who cares. Let it go and be different tomorrow. 💜
